Taking Care of Acne-Prone Skin

Acne is not only limited to teenagers and puberty, it is also common in adults and women, mainly during pregnancy. Acne is typically characterized by large pimples and bumps all over the skin, typically found on the face and back. It is caused by the overactivity of the sebaceous or oil-producing glands. When it combines with dead skin cells, hormones, and bacteria, sebum gets trapped inside the pores and causes swelling.

The lumps are usually white or black-headed or even red, very soft. Acne, if left untreated, can even lead to scarring and some acne breakouts penetrate so deeply into the skin that they form nodules and cysts, leaving scars that may not go away even after healing.
