Finding Effective Skin Care Products

The packaging may be beautiful, but it does not help reduce fine lines, reduce troublesome acne, smooth wrinkles or add oil and moisture to brighten the complexion. When it comes to cosmetics, like most other fields, what's inside the package is the most important thing. If you are overwhelmed by the large selection of products available today and the "miracle" that everyone claims to do, understanding the terms used in beauty products and their true meaning may help distinguish which products are suitable and not suitable for you. The cosmetics companies are required to accurately disclose all the ingredients in their products, listed in descending order of concentration. However, certain cosmetic terms can confuse and mislead average consumers, for example, terms such as "all-natural" and "fragrance-free".

Although all-natural does mean that the ingredients used come from natural sources such as plants and other organic materials, the FDA does not regulate the terms used in cosmetics. Some cosmetic companies that do not care about accuracy or reputation often mislead consumers by applying this term to their products. Products that promote fragrance-free products may still use aromatic plant extracts to mask the off odors caused by unrefined materials. These extracts may cause allergic reactions and skin irritation. Therefore, fragrance-free can only mean that the product does not have any "obvious" fragrance. "Non-irritating" is a more reliable term to look for in products.

Alcohol-free products may not contain "grain alcohol" that is drying. However, other forms of alcohol, such as lanolin alcohol or Cetearyl alcohol, can still be used. For people with sensitive skin, skincare experts recommend using products that list any alcohol content before or after the preservative list. Wise cosmetic consumers will choose products based on ingredient content and performance rather than packaging or brand. High-end cosmetics are not necessarily better than cheap ones. A product of one brand may be good, but another product of the same brand may not work well. Therefore, "Brand loyalty" does not necessarily benefit consumers. Many departments store cosmetic companies were merged together. The purchase of cosmetics under three different "brands" may in fact be distributed by the same cosmetics company.

Finally, the most important factor in determining what skincare products will work best for you is choosing the right products for your skin type. You might have guessed it already, but those with sensitive and acne-prone skin need to be the most alert with different ingredients in their skincare products. In addition to that average cosmetics, users need to know the right products for their skin and when/how to apply them.

The verdict of it is to forget the hype. Everyone's skin is different. Find out what works for you, and stick with it. Following a daily skin-care regimen personalized for your skin type and using tried and true products, will give your face a healthy glow like none other.
